Since July 2025, construction work on our Maasai earth school in the Kiteto district of Tanzania has been able to begin thanks to the crucial support of BCV Solidarité and the Jack Guberan Foundation.
The latter is responsible for all the water-related infrastructure, including rainwater harvesting in underground reservoirs and its distribution to various points on the site.
Today, all 11 buildings of the school complex are already roofed:
– 3 buildings comprising 8 classrooms (2 kindergarten and 6 primary)
– 1 administrative building
– 1 canteen
– 2 houses, each containing 2 apartments for teachers
– 4 buildings housing a total of 16 toilet cubicles
The construction site is in full swing, with several trades working simultaneously: electricians, plumbers and painters.
The official inauguration of the school will take place on July 11, 2026, in the presence of donors and members of the Elewa-Africa Switzerland committee. The school will then open its doors on July 13, 2026, for a trial semester.
Meanwhile, the Elewa-Africa association is actively pursuing funding to bring this project to fruition. Thanks to generous donors and the unwavering support of our members, we are getting closer every day to our goal: to provide 280 children in the Ilkandururo community with access to quality education and the keys to a brighter future.
